Childcare Center Director
My name is Katherine Stansbury and I am the Center Director of the new Mater Dei Catholic Childcare Center.
Growing up, I attended Catholic Elementary School at Saint Alphonsus and high school at Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy. Upon graduating from high school, I attended college at West Chester University.
I started my career in ECE as a school age teacher but quickly developed a passion for working with young children. I was promoted to Assistant Director of my childcare facility (and was Acting Center Director on several occasions). I have loved managing childcare centers for the past 10 years.
I live in Hatfield with my husband George and our amazing children Addison (4) and James (5 months). We enjoy spending time with each other, fishing, and going to the beach.
I am so excited to have joined the family here at Mater Dei and look forward to getting to know you and your families!
Assistant to the Director
My name is Mary Whittam and I am the Assistant to the Center Director.
I have been a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish since 1972. I am a graduate of St. Maria Goretti Elementary School and Lansdale Catholic High School.
I started my career at the YMCA with 3-year olds in 2007. I have worked in several facilities/school districts with young children over the past 10 years and I have always truly enjoyed inspiring my students. But more importantly, I have always been inspired by them.
Now I have the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the new Mater Dei Catholic Childcare program as the Assistant to the Director.
I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful girls. We have a black lab/mix named Tucker. I enjoy reading, cooking, going to the beach, and being with my family.
I look forward to being with your children and I thank you for entrusting them with us.
Lead Infant Teacher
I have been working with children from the young age of 6 weeks to as old as 6th grade since 1999 - 20 years!! I quickly knew of my love of children and decided to attend Lehigh Carbon Community College and receive my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, after graduation from Marian Catholic High School, in Tamaqua, PA. I went on to East Stroudsburg University to attain my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood. I student taught in both 2nd grade and 6th grade. Throughout my college days, I worked in Child Care Centers which allowed me experience with many ages and styles of learning.
After teaching at The Children’s Academy in San Antonio, Texas in the PreK classroom, I moved back to Pennsylvania to the opportunity to be part of opening the PreK Counts Program in the Jim Thorpe Area School District. After relocating my family to the Lansdale area, my family became members of the St. Maria Goretti Parish and quickly became members of the Mater Dei Catholic School family. Most recently, I was employed by Mater Dei Catholic School as an Aide in the PreK 3’s classroom, where I quickly became attached and frequently visit, for that very reason!! My love for children is endless. It is rewarding and inspiring to have a child realize their full potential and that anything is possible as a Child of God.
I live for and love my family like no other. I have two daughters that attend Mater Dei Catholic School. Emily is 13 years old and is in 8th Grade and Megan is 11 years old and in the 6th Grade. We have a 10 year old boxer named Belle!
I enjoy crafts, organizing, and I LOVE CHRISTMAS and Disney!!
I am looking forward to getting to know each of your greatest blessings - your children and I thank you for allowing me to do so!!
